Direction to St Marys:  Click here

November, 2008 -- From the Rector:

"If the only prayer you said in your life was 'thank you,' that would suffice."

             - Meister Eckhart, 13th Century Christian Mystic

Dear Friends,

As November approaches...and we look forward to Thanksgiving 2008...I am especially mindful of two changes taking place here at St. Mary's for which I am truly thankful.

First, I am thankful that we have been blessed with the presence of Scott Chambers in his role as office administrator over the past several years.  As many already know, Scott decided to retire from our church office...after accepting a job working more than 40 hours-a-week...in addition to keeping up with our parish communication needs.  Although he originally intended to keep both positions, Scott concluded (after careful consideration) that he needs to retire from the office...and he graciously agreed to stay on until November 15, if needed.  This has been a big step for Scott which has necessitated that he pace himself realistically, examine his priorities and make necessary changes in his time management.  As the time approaches for Scott to leave the office (which could possibly be at the end of October), I invite everyone to join me in thanking him and in letting him know the many ways in which he has been appreciated.  He will be dearly missed as office administrator...although he assures us that he will continue to offer his considerable talents in many other ways as a parishioner.

The second reason for my thankfulness is also related to the church office.  I am very thankful that we are welcoming Robin Caccese as our new office administrator.  Robin is a parishioner of Christ Church, Reading, and she is in her fourth year of the Education for Ministry (EfM)  program at Christ Church. Robin brings with her a healthy sense of ministry as well as superb qualifications for the position of office administrator.  In addition to her extensive background with computers, she is accustomed to pumping out newsletters with a readership of over 2000 (!).  Although Robin will not be with us on Sundays, she will join us through the week in the office and participate in our Wednesday activities (Nooday Prayer and Holy Eucharist) which will give us considerable opportunity to know her well.

Please share in my gratitude...God indeed has blessed us with these two wonderful people!

                Faithfully,

                      Nancy Packard, Rector
